Prepare your browser for a long transfer.

Large uploads and downloads depend on browser storage, device power settings and network stability as much as raw connection speed.

Use a current mainstream browser

HubTransfer is designed for modern browsers with current file, streaming and secure-connection support. Update Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari before a very large transfer. Old browsers, embedded in-app browsers and privacy extensions that rewrite network requests can behave differently.

Keep the transfer in its original tab. Private browsing can work, but the browser may impose stricter temporary-storage rules and will remove session information when every private window closes. Clearing site data during an upload or download can interrupt the workflow.

Leave working space, not only final-file space

A 20 GB download may require more than 20 GB free while a browser receives, assembles and saves it. Operating systems also reserve space for updates, swap files and application caches. If the disk is nearly full, select another destination or remove unneeded data before starting.

External drives must remain connected and awake. Check their file system as well: older FAT32 volumes cannot store a single file larger than 4 GB even when the drive has plenty of total free space.

Prevent mobile suspension

Phones and tablets aggressively suspend background tabs to save battery and memory. Keep the browser visible, connect the charger and temporarily extend the screen timeout. Do not switch repeatedly between apps during a multi-gigabyte operation. Confirm the browser has permission to download files and that the device's Files or Downloads location has enough room.

On a memory-constrained device, send fewer files at once or use a desktop browser. The service limit describes what HubTransfer accepts; it cannot guarantee that every device can locally prepare or assemble the maximum size.

Choose stability over a peak speed test

Wired Ethernet is usually the most stable choice. On Wi-Fi, stay near the access point and avoid switching to another network. VPNs, corporate security gateways and public hotspots can limit long-running requests even when ordinary pages load normally.

Upload and download speeds are different. A sender with fast download service may still have a much slower upload rate. Estimate the transfer duration using the sender's upstream rate, then coordinate with the recipient because the fallback expiry begins when upload preparation completes.
