Large-file guide

How to send files up to 25 GB.

A reliable large transfer starts before the upload button. Use this workflow to avoid common browser, storage and timing problems.

Prepare the sender and recipient

First check the total selection size. HubTransfer accepts a maximum of 25 GB in one transfer, whether that selection is one file or several files packaged together. The receiving device should have more free space than the displayed transfer size because browsers can temporarily use additional working space while assembling a download.

Keep the sender connected to power when using a laptop or phone. Disable sleep until the upload completes, use a stable Wi-Fi or wired connection and avoid switching networks. Closing the tab, suspending the device or clearing browser data can stop an active transfer.

  • Confirm the complete selection is no larger than 25 GB.
  • Leave enough free space on the receiving device.
  • Keep both devices awake and connected.
  • Use an updated browser and a stable network.

Create and upload the transfer

Open HubTransfer, choose Send files and select one or more items. Review the list before creating the transfer. If several files are selected, HubTransfer may package them so the recipient receives one organised download. The service chooses a suitable preparation method based on the selection; already-compressed media is not expected to become dramatically smaller.

After the upload begins, keep the page open. Large transfers are divided into manageable cloud parts so a single request does not need to hold the entire file in memory. Progress can pause briefly while a part is finalised or the browser prepares the next part. A short pause is not necessarily a failure.

Share the code privately

When HubTransfer displays the five-character code, send it only to the intended recipient through a trusted channel. Anyone holding a valid code during its short lifetime may attempt to access that transfer. Do not publish the code in a public post, public chat room or screenshot.

The recipient opens HubTransfer, selects Receive files and enters the code exactly as shown. A direct link may fill the code automatically, but the same privacy rule applies to the link. For sensitive material, confirm the recipient through a separate conversation before sharing access.

Allow the download to finish

The recipient should wait until the browser reports a completed download and the file is present on the device. HubTransfer removes a transfer after the first download is successfully confirmed. If a connection is interrupted, immediate deletion is not triggered, allowing another attempt while the transfer remains within its normal expiry period.

Files are designed for a quick hand-off, not long-term backup. The normal fallback expiry is 30 minutes after upload completion, so coordinate with the recipient before sending a very large selection. Keep your original copy until the recipient confirms that the downloaded file opens correctly.

If a transfer stops, do not repeatedly create new copies straight away. Check the interrupted-transfer guide first.
