When the 30-minute clock starts
The standard fallback expiry begins after the upload finishes, not when the sender first selects a file. Upload time therefore does not consume the recipient's normal availability window. Once preparation completes, the sender should share the new code promptly.
The expiry exists to prevent abandoned cloud copies from remaining indefinitely and to keep the service focused on temporary delivery rather than permanent storage. Background housekeeping removes expired session information and stored transfer parts. Infrastructure lifecycle controls may provide an additional delayed cleanup safeguard.
What “one completed download” means
The recipient begins a tracked download session. When the browser-side transfer completes successfully, HubTransfer sends a completion confirmation and removes the transfer's temporary cloud objects and code. Another recipient should not expect the same code to work afterwards.
A browser showing 100 percent and a file appearing in the destination are the practical signs the recipient should check. The sender must still retain an original copy until the recipient confirms that the file opens and contains the expected data.
An interruption is not treated as success
If the connection drops or the user cancels before completion, HubTransfer does not intentionally send the success confirmation that triggers immediate deletion. The same transfer may be attempted again while it is still active. This protects a recipient from losing access merely because the first attempt failed.
The fallback deadline does not pause during a download and does not restart after an interruption. A retry close to expiry may therefore run out of time. If a very large file cannot finish within the remaining window, the sender should create a new transfer and provide the latest code.
Coordinate before uploading
- Ask the recipient to be ready before the upload completes.
- Estimate download time from the recipient's connection, not the sender's.
- Keep the original file until successful receipt is confirmed.
- Do not use HubTransfer as the only backup or long-term archive.
HubTransfer may remove data sooner for abuse prevention, legal compliance, capacity management or technical maintenance. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for the governing details.
